JUPITER from the film ‘Five Weeks in a Balloon’ (1962) produced and directed by IRWIN ALLEN, based on the nodel by JULES VERNE

Irwin Allen followed up the success of ‘The Lost World’ and ‘Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea with  the film ‘Five Weeks in a Balloon’, based on the Jules Verne. The film featured a large cast and an interesting vehicle. The Jupiter is a powered hot air balloon invented by Professor Ferguson. I realised when doing this painting as a ‘What If’ AURORA model kit of the day. that the size of the balloon part would necessitate a small scale in order to make the kit a manageable size. I guess this is why there any many kits of Hot Air Balloons!

The next page has an version of the gondola section only.
