THE IRON MOLE

From the 1976 feature film ‘AT THE EARTH’S CORE’.

The film starred Doug McClure and Peter Cushing in this adaptation of an Edgar Rice Burroughs adventure novel.

The Iron Mole is seen at the opening of the film in several real word settings as it constructed and readied for launch. But once in action it is underground and there are no exterior views.

This painting is based on the limited views of what we do see through the ‘vision ports’ and the art direction of the underground world of Pellucidar, imagining what an exterior shot may have looked like.
