CYLON RAIDER

The Cylon Raider, or Cylon Attack Craft was the principal spacecraft used by the threatening, ‘robotic’ Cylons. Enemies of the Colonial fleet, lead by the Battlestar Galactica. The ambitious TV Series was created by TV Producer and Writer Glen A Larson in the late 1970s. Like so many of the Sci-Fi Films and TV shows that appeared in the wake of ‘Star Wars’ ‘Galactica’ was being planned long before Star Wars’ , but the similarities, especially in the hardware and space battles was hard to avoid!

The Cylon Raider carried a crew three Cylons and frequently engaged the Battlestar’s Vipers in dogfights. The design of each ship being instanly recognizable and distinct from one another.

The Cylon ships looked great, often flying in formation, and peeling off to attack. Beautiful examples of motion control photography, under the supervision of Special Photographics Supervior and Producer John Dykstra.
