Rutland Reindeer
from the 1951 film ‘No Highway in the Sky’ (aka ‘No Highway@ directed by Henry Koster. From the novel by Nevil Shute
The film starring James Stewart invovles an aircraft investigation based on a potential design flaws. Stewart palsy the scientist at the heart of the story. the aircraft in question is the fictional Rutland Reindeer. In the film that aircraft is portrayed with a full size mock-up - apparently converted from a Handley Page Halifax - for shots on the ground, and several miniatures when in the air. The aircraft is quite unusual in appearance with a very ornate tail section and a bulbous cockpit area.

The film is well worth a look. the sort of film you used to find on BBC2 on a Saturday (rainy) afternoon.
