AIRSPRITE (from ‘Ultraquest’)

This is a futuristic short-range transport. similar in use to contemporary civilian helicopters. Four jet engines at the end of each of the four winglets, are able to rotate 90 degrees for horizontal flight or Vertical Take Off and Landing. It is an automated, computer controlled aircraft, and the central passenger section is detachable..

This was designed for the ‘ULTRAQUEST’ sci-fi movie project that I am developing.. This ship ferries the crew of 4 to the EXCALIBUR submarine. Landing vertically and docking with the Excalibur the central passenger section detaches and descends into the hull of the larger ship, where it functions as an elevator between decks. The empty skeletal ‘Airsprite’ aircraft is removed by an automated crane, or flies off under its own control.

This painting shows the Airsprite arriving at the drydock housing the Excalibur.

All of this is very much inspired by the works of GERRY ANDERSON!
