X15 III
The X15 (III), flown by JOSEPH A WALKER on many test flights, gained the world record for altitlude in 1963 on flights 90 and 91 at height of 65 and 67 miles respectively in 1963. This record subsequently qualified Walker as an astronaut, as space is decalred by the FAI (Fédération Aéronautique Internationaleo) to start at 62.1 miles. The USAF recognise space starting at 50 miles.
This kit is a 1/48th scale model kit by SPECIAL HOBBY of the X-15 A2, which I converted to X15-3, reducing the fuselage length slightly and altering the markings.
