LONDON
From the BBC TV series created by Terry Nation - ‘BLAKE’S 7’
A one off ship ship was the prison transport ship that is seen in the first few episodes of the series. Set in the far future the Earth, and the galaxy, is governed by the oppressive FEDERATION. ROJ BLAKE is a freedom fighter who is convicted and sent tp the penal colony of Cygnus Alpha, but while en route they discover a giant alien spaceship drifting in space. The London docks to investigate and BLAKE seizes the opportunity to commandeer the ship - which he christens ‘THE LIBERATOR’.
The ship appears to be approximately 70 feet in length and a 1/72nd scale kit would be a good size with the possibility for a limited interior – cockpit and ‘passenger’ area. The three colours would ideally be a combination of white, light grey and ivory.
The distinctive ship was designed by Ian Scoones (series VFX Designer/Supervisor) and si adorned with various model kit pats of the day. The kit-bashing technique pioneered by Derek Meddings on the Gerry Anderson TV shows, and cemented into the culture as the look required for credible spaceships in movies and TV.
