SHOWSCAN

Showscan was a photographic process developed by DOUGLAS TRUMBULL in the 1970s. The process was ahead of its time, using 70mm film, shooting at 60 frames per second. The results were eerily lifelike. It was intended as a replacement for contemporary film processes - 35mm film shooting at 24 frames per second, but the work and costs involved to fully embrace the new system was prohibitive.

To date Showscan has been used on only a handful of special venue and exhibition films,
