WORLD WAR I U-BOAT from The Land That Time Forgot
The Land That Time Forgot produced by Milton Subostsky and John Dark. Directed by Kevin Connor (1975)
The Land that Time forgot is the first of the films, An Amicus production of an Edgar Rice Burroughs science fiction novel. 4 films were made in this unofficial series of adventure films all directed by Kevin Connor and all starring Doug McClure.
In the Land That Time Forgot, much of the action involves a u boat commandeered by Doug McClure which ends up discovering the island of Caprona. In the middle.of.the antarctic the isla d featured lush tropical areas and dinosaurs! And cave men... various eras that exist out of time.
This picture shows U-Boat 33 approaching the island through an underwater cave, with icebergs at one end, and vegetation and sunlight at the other. This is truncated from how it appears in the film. But as a standalone illustration this seemed like the way to go.
The U-Boat itself seems to have been designed for the film, but based on a type U-31, but modified. It seems to be shorter (approx 180 feet vs 214 feet) and with some modifications to the ballast tanks which have a flattened upper surface, probably to allow more room for the actors and monster to fight.
In 144 this kit would be approx 14 inches in length.
