White 666 and Dodge T-110 from the film ’The Wages of Fear’ (1953). Directed by Henri-Georges Clouzot

The Wages of Fear is an excellent French film film from the e1950s. The film follows 4 deperate men who take on the dangerous job of driving unprotected nitroglycerine 300 miles across rough South American landscape. The film is shot on in black & white on location with real trucks, both World War Two era vehicles. A Dodge T-110 and the larger White 6 ton 6 x 6.

The film has tremendnous charcaters and is nerve-wracking and exciting. It is has a desperation to it from the start ti the finish… or ‘fin’. A must see!

Matchbox did a series of excellent 1/76th scale military vehicles which came with a small diroame-like display base. This seemed like it would be a great kit featuring both trucks and a base featuring the rickety mountainside platform where they have to turn around .
