NAUTILUS I

From the 1969 MGM film ‘CAPTAIN NEMO AND THE UNDERWATER CITY’.

A little known gem of sci-fi hardware, the film featured 2 Nautilus submarines, with subtle differences in the superstructures. An enthusiastic modeller could scratch-build what is needed for ‘Nautilus II’.

1/600th was AIRFIX scale of choice form ships, and this would come in at a whopping 14” long and 8” wide. Imagine something about twice the size of the famous SRN4 Hovercraft!

Probably would have been moulded in black plastic. Ahh, we can dream…
