JUPITER 2 from Lost In Space (1965) created by Irwin Allen

‘Lost In Space’ was a very popular TV show made in the 1960s, created by Irwin Allen, who was also responsible for ‘Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea’, ‘The Time Tunnel’ and ‘Land of the Giants’.

The Jupiter 2 was home to the Robinson family, Dr Smith and the Robot.

Although Aurora made excellent model kits of the Seaview, Flying Sub, and the Spindrift they did not do a model kit of the Jupiter 2. - lthough I would swear they did.

In the 1990s Polar Lights made a superb model of the ship in 1/72nd scale, approximately 12“ in diameter, with removable uppper hatch panel, revealing a detailed upper deck interior. This is what the Aurotra kit would have been. But how we all wished for a model of this cool ship growing up.
