GREEK FISHING BOAT from ‘The Guns of Navarone’. Directed by J. Lee Thompson. Produced by Carl Foreman
The Guns of Navarone is a fictional adventure story set in World War 2. The novel by Alistair MacLean was made into a film in 1961 starring Gregory Peck, David Niven, Anthony Quinn and many other familiar faces. It is a bona fide classic and probably the best fictional war movie ever made. A rip-roaring adventure.
This kit shows the fishing boat that peck, and his time use to get to the island of Navarone. I think this was an actual Greek fishing boat procured by the film company. There is an elaborate storm sequence featuring the boat, but in order to show it off better for kit box purposes I have imagined this scene of the boat approaching the island – prior to the storm.
The kit would be in 1/72nd like the MTB and E Boat and you should get figures of Mallory, Miller, Stavros, Franklin, Brown, Pappadimos and Major Franklin.
