DOGFIGHT DOUBLE - CAPRICORN ONE
From the 1978 science fiction thriller ‘CAPRICORN ONE’ written and directed by PETER HYAMS
Capricorn One is a thriling film that takes the speculative preime that the United States Moon Landings were faked and puts it in a story of the flrst manned flight to Mars. Elliot Gould and James Brolin star as a dogged reporter and the captain of the ‘mars misison’ respectively. The film has many familiar faces, including Telly Savalas whos large than life personality is used to great effect as Albain of Albain & Albain crop dusting services.
The film features a terrifdic chase across the desert - all done for real - with two enigmatic Hughes 500 helicopters chasing the Stearman biplane piloted by Savalas!
A great film with a feel of the 1970s thrillers such as ‘Three Days of the Condor’ as well as the fantasy of the fantastic found in James Bond films of the time. Great Stuff.
Like most of the dogfight double series, this would fetaure exisiting kits re-boxed, and with unique decals and paint schemes. (Unfortunately while Revell did both aircraft, Airfix did neither… but I like the idea of a classic ‘dogfight doubles’ box…and this is fantasy box art afterall).
It would great if the kit included unique figures for Albain, Caulfield and Brubaker (on the wing!).
