AIR SEA RESCUE JET from ‘Thunderbirds’ (1965) created by Gerry Anderson
We see these great looking aircraft in a few episodes and are featured in ‘Operation Crash-Dive’ as part of the search and rescue attempts to find a missing Fireflash airliner.
The actual vfx model was ‘kit-bashed’ from model kits of an F104 starfighter (fuselage) and B58 hustler (wings and tail). More on how the original model was constructed in the video ‘More Kit Bashing’.
This picture shows the aircraft crossing the English coast. A kit would come in bright yellow plastic.
