BOEING 747 - STEVENS CORPORATION
From Airport ‘77 directed by Jerry Jameson
Another sequal in the series of Airport movies.
In this film a 747 carrying a pricelss art collection is taken over by hi-jackers (lead by Robert Foxworth, before heading up north to his winery) who fly below the radar in order to make their escape . The plan collides with an oil rig and crashlands on the ocean. It sinks to the seabed, with the passenger compartment still intact. the film deals with the attem[pts to escape the wreck.
Jack Lemmon, James Stewart and Christopher Lee star along with a number of familiar TV stars are all involved. The film features superb visual effects by Albert Whitlock and Bill Taylor.
This would be another regular Boeing 747 kits - of which there were many in the 1970s - with unique decals for the ‘Stevens Corporation’.
If the plot sounds far fetched - it is - the premise appears to have been borrowed from an epsiode of the classic TV series ‘Thunderbirds’ with this very scenario, albeit with the fantastic Fireflash instead of a 747!
